2017 was the first full year that my photography business, Wild & Bright Photography, was up and running. Although I shoot primarily here in Western Carolina, over the past twelve months I was able to book sessions across the Pacific Northwest and New England. Traveling to my clients' own favorite spaces, either at home or in the wilderness, is my absolute favorite way to shoot pictures. In the future, I'd love to be on the road a few months out of every year- with Olive, Dave and the corgi in tow.
Even though I've been shooting casually since high school, professional photography has a steep learning curve that took me by surprise. I've learned so much from every subject, landscape, weather pattern, sun burst, and in particular those days when the light truly did not cooperate. So much gratitude to my mentors who allowed me to second shoot weddings, hang around on locations, and who patiently explained the gritty aperture math behind it all. (Thank you Peter, Austin and Derek!)
The biggest thank you to my clients for waking up at dawn, hauling toddlers to the tops of mountains, housing me, trusting me to handle your newborns, and taking a chance to try something (and someone) new.
I'm proud of so many candid, light-soaked moments I was able to capture in 2017, but for now l'm excited to share with you some of my favorite portraits- or as close to portraits as my work ever gets.
I am currently booking shoots for 2018! I will be in the Southeast for winter and spring, and New England in the summer. I won't be doing too much traveling because Olive is brand new, but I welcome inquiries from anywhere in the country, because you just never know! Contact me via my website, or email thewildercoast (at) gmail (dot) com.
I'll be back later in the month to share my favorite candid moments, family pictures and natural light.
